Initial Teacher Training

Our ITT places for September 2025 are now open!

You will be able to find teacher training places here and apply by visiting the DfE 'Apply' system. Search for provider code 1EX, Greenwood Academies Trust.

We want the very best for our fantastic children and are looking for future teachers from all walks of life, who are as diverse and vibrant as the communities we serve. Train to become a teacher with the Greenwood Academies Trust and you will benefit from a tailored package of support and development from outstanding, experienced teachers and tutors.

In partnership with our accredited providers, we offer a wide range of primary, secondary and SEND teacher training places to start in September 2025. Based in one of our academies, trainees will study for a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) with Masters credits, and a QTS award.

Trainees attend lectures and seminars with the accredited provider typically one day a week, with the rest of the time spent 'hands on' in the academy.  You will be assigned an academy-based Subject Mentor and Professional Tutor who will meet with you on a weekly basis to provide ongoing guidance and support. You are part of the team from day one!

A contrasting placement in a second setting is arranged for you and is undertaken during the Spring term. This will provide a broader view of educational issues and experiences.

We have a great track record. Since 2013 we have successfully trained almost 250 teachers, with many former trainees now in positions of leadership.

Do you want to teach a subject that isn’t directly related to your Degree?

Don’t worry! If you want to train to teach Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Computing or Languages, Subject Knowledge Enhancement (SKE) courses are available. These can be fully funded and you may also be entitled to a bursary whilst studying. You need to apply for and be offered a School Direct place before starting a SKE course, so please keep this timeframe in mind.

  • GCSE grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) in English and maths (and science for Primary trainees)
