Danesholme Infant and Junior Academies are pleased to announce the opening of a free community laundry service for families of pupils attending the schools. Thanks to generous donations from SMOL and Argos Clearance Shop in Corby, the school has been equipped with a washing machine and tumble dryer, allowing families to access laundry facilities completely free of charge.
Through SMOL's Suds for Schools programme, the academies received a washing machine and a continuous supply of eco-friendly laundry detergent. This initiative ensures that no pupil faces the discomfort or embarrassment of wearing unwashed clothes due to financial difficulties at home. Additionally, Argos Clearance Shop quickly responded to a request for support, donating a free tumble dryer to complete the setup.
Nikki Lamond, Executive Principal of Danesholme Infant and Junior Academies, emphasised the positive impact this service will have on school families. “We understand that many families are going through challenging times, and we wanted to do something practical to help. Providing a free laundry service means that every pupil can come to school feeling confident and comfortable,” said Lamond. “We are deeply thankful to SMOL and Argos Clearance Shop for making this possible.”
The service, which the academies have named Danesholme Community Laundry, will be promoted through the school’s website and social media platforms, ensuring that families are fully informed about this valuable resource available exclusively to them.
