Pupils and staff at The Wells Academy welcomed Nadia Whittome, Labour MP for Nottingham East, on Friday 15th September.
George Coles, Principal at The Wells Academy, spoke to Nadia about the academy's journey and future plans. They also spoke about:
- Embracing diversity within the curriculum
- How The Wells Academy has managed to recruit wonderful staff to join their brilliant existing team
- Their work in developing a brand-new Inclusion Team to support students with SEND
- The way they support students with their high expectations but with lots of warmth and kindness
- George's desire to work more closely with students’ families and his plans to achieve this.
When being given a tour of the academy, Nadia commented on its calm and purposeful atmosphere.
Pupils very much enjoyed participating in a roundtable discussion with Nadia where they were able to ask questions and share their thoughts and aspirations with the MP!
