Stanground Academy marked Remembrance Day with a heartfelt and visually stunning tribute to honour those who have served and sacrificed.
This year’s commemoration featured an extraordinary poppy display. Nearly 900 plastic bottle poppies, hand-painted by pupils under the guidance of Mrs. Lavallin, were meticulously arranged on netting alongside newly crafted wooden poppies. The vibrant installation now stands proudly at the front of the academy, serving as a poignant symbol of gratitude and remembrance.
The day was enriched by meaningful activities that deepened understanding and reflection. In tutor groups, pupils created individual poppies, each bearing personal messages to veterans or reflections on military connections. These activities provided a unique opportunity for pupils to honour family members and express their respect for the Armed Forces.
Throughout the day, pupils and staff engaged in thought-provoking talks and moments of reflection, fostering a shared appreciation for the significance of Remembrance Day.
Stanground Academy extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in making this Remembrance Day a memorable and meaningful occasion.
